things that are terrible, vol. 23: ugly baby animals

I am obsessed with baby animals. i mean, who isn't? they are soft and cuddly and tiny and adorable. when i see a picture of a cute baby animal - like the pic of the red panda above - i immediately turn into a 10 year old and become overwhelmed with the urge to find one and hug it to death (i didn't say it was a healthy obsession, did i?).

i have even been known to occasionally scour the internet for cute baby animal pics (what? i do have my girly moments from time to time). unfortunately, not all the baby animals i've come across are cute. in fact, some of them are simply horrifying. i don't really know why i find ugly baby animals disturbing, but i do. in fact, i find them so disturbing i thought i would share some pictures of those disgusting creatures with you! below are some of the worst offenders i've come across recently:

i had no idea baby gorillas were so hideous. this thing doesn't even look real to me. and have you ever seen a baby animal that looks more like an old man made of plastic in your life? also his hand-feet are really freaking me out.

is it me or does it look like this baby sifaka wants to tear your face off?

the hideous creature above is apparently a "puggle". not to be confused with the dog "breed" known as a puggle, this echidna puggle looks like a prop from the set of a bad sci-fi movie. as if its appearance alone wasn't bad enough, through some internet searching i discovered that male echidna puggles apparently have terrifying four-headed penises. GAH! sorry. i really didn't want to know that either.

this baby rhino has a face not even his ugly mother would love.

river otters are so cute. why are their babies this disgusting?
