things i DON'T want for christmas, vol 1: clothing and accessories edition

You're probably aware of the annual dave barry holiday gift guide, in which dave compiles a list of terrible, obscure christmas presents like the emergency bra, a bra that can be converted into two face masks in the case of a sudden environmental disaster, or maniki, butt-shaping undies for dudes. 
though his list is always entertaining, i've personally found that you don't even need to look that hard to find truly awful gifts. naturally, i couldn't resist sharing a selection of my recent favorites on this blog. so here are some of the horrific gifts i recently found on three very mainstream websites:

• first, there is this delightful red nylon bag from GAP. if there's a cheap, flimsy gym bag out there that looks more like michael jackson's jacket from the "beat it" video, i've yet to find it. 

• next up is this absolutely precious down cape from Athleta. because sometimes you just wish down jackets were even more shapeless and unflattering than they already are.

• finally, there is the infinity scarf from Ann Taylor Loft. i mean, just look at the picture. that's not a scarf, that's a king-sized throw blanket wrapped around her neck. 

i'm sure there are many more examples out there, and i'll try to share any i come across over the next few weeks.
