You win some:
last week a 22 year old asked for my number. granted, he looked like an even dorkier version of harry potter complete with painful round glasses, but hey - i'll take what i can get. i told him i was a little too old for him. he claimed i "couldn't possibly be older than 25" (right). i told him to stick with that line - us old ladies love it.You lose some:
i went into a local store a few days ago, and one of the owners of the store got super excited and told me that i looked EXACTLY like an actress from his favorite PBS show, "Doc Martin". having never watched the show, i wasn't really sure how to interpret that, but i hoped it was a compliment. well, i just looked her up and she is 42 years old. yes, someone told me that i look EXACTLY like a 42 year old.* sigh. of course, when i am 42 there is no way i will look as good as she does, so i really shouldn't be complaining. but still, can't say it's the best compliment i've ever received in my life.**ahh the joys of being thirtysomething.
* also, not sure that i actually look like her beyond the fact that i am a brown-haired white person.
** if you were wondering, the best compliment i've ever received was when a man in egypt told me that i "smell like 10,000 sunsets."
Just remember what the 22 year old said. What the owner of that store said - "Fahgettaboutit"!!
