things that are terrible, vol. 28: internet reviews

It seems like every website allows people to post their reviews of products, recipes, clothing, etc. these days. sometimes customer reviews are helpful (i mean, it IS nice to know that the jeans you were thinking about buying tend to fall apart after one washing), but let's be honest - most of the time customer reviews are - at best - painful and cringe-inducing. and i'm not talking about the obviously fake reviews (which i occasionally find amusing), i'm talking about the people who are so completely fucking clueless that they post the weirdest shit in their reviews.

for example, i came across this review of a tank top recently:

dude. i'm pretty sure that if your number one concern in buying a shirt is whether it can withstand margarita stains, you might have a drinking problem. just saying.

another gem i happened upon recently was this recipe review of a dessert on epicurious.

"lol"? really?

i think we can all agree that the very best part of this review is that - despite going into anaphylactic shock - they still gave the recipe 4 "forks".

customer reviews really are a terrifying window into the minds of crazy people. still not convinced? in that case, i would highly recommend reading the amazon reviews for various pepper spray products. practically every third review is some ridiculous idiot who is like "woah. this is seriously strong shit. check out my video on youtube of my friend spraying me in the face with it!"

sigh.
